Hair disorders among dermatology patients
The burden of hair and scalp disorders in West Africa is significant among school-aged children and women. Hair disorders are defined as issues with hair growth, structure, and loss, as well as change or reduction in hair luster, strength, and elasticity. Previous studies have addressed the relationship between hair practices and conditions in Nigeria and South Africa; however, there is a lack of studies on hair disorders among urban populations in Ghana. The aim of this retrospective, hospital-based chart review was to describe the prevalence and symptoms of hair disorders at initial presentation to the Dermatology Clinic.
